Configure a Form for the iPad App for Non-desk Workers

This section describes how to configure forms for the iPad app for non-desk workers. This page contains the following topics:

Before configuring form, please read the following notes.

Users who can configure forms for the iPad app

Users who have management permission for the relevant app can configure forms for the iPad app.
Users who have management permission for an app are those who satisfy all of the following conditions:

  • The Allow checkbox for Manage apps has been selected for them on the Permission management screen in kintone administration.
  • The Manage app checkbox has been selected for them on the Permissions for app screen of the relevant app.

Precautions for Configuring Forms for the iPad App

Before configuring form, please read the following notes.

Checking Which Fields Can Be Placed on a View

You can place the following fields on the iPad app for non-desk workers:

  • Text
  • Text area
  • Number
  • Radio button
  • Check box
  • Multi-choice
  • Drop-down
  • Date 
  • Time fields
  • Date and time
  • Attachment
  • Lookup
  • Link
  • Table

Check Fields with Required Items Set

Required fields must be set as fields to be entered in the form for the iPad app.
If a required field is not set as a field to be entered in the form for the iPad app, the record registration will fail.

Lookup fields: Check the settings

If you use a "Lookup" field in a form for the iPad app, the field setting of the referenced field must have "Prohibit duplicate values" selected.
If the field setting of the referenced field does not have "Prohibit duplicate values" selected, the record registration will fail.

Adding a Form for the iPad App

Configure a form for the iPad app by following the steps below.

The steps described above complete the placement of elements on the form. If you want to publish the form as is, click "Save". If you want to adjust the layout further, proceed to the next step.

Accessing the Form Settings Screen for the iPad App

Access the form settings screen from the management screen of the form for the iPad app.

  1. On your device, tap the "kintone Touch" icon.

  2. Tap "Settings" in the upper right corner of the screen.

  3. On the management screen where apps for setting forms for the iPad app are listed, tap the "+" button.

This will bring up the screen for configuring forms for the iPad app.

Changing the Name of a Form

A form is given a tentative name by default. Change it to a name that clearly indicates the purpose of the form.

  1. In the settings screen of the form for the iPad app, tap the form name at the top left of the screen.Screenshot: The form name is highlighted

  2. Tap "Rename".

  3. Enter any name for the form.

  4. To apply the changes to the form, tap "Save".

Placing Fields

Select and place the fields you want to display on the form.

  1. In the form settings screen for the iPad app, tap the "Fields" button in the field list on the left.

  2. Tap the fields that you want to display on the form.

  3. Tap the interface you want to configure for the field.

  5. To apply the changes to the form, tap "Save".

Changing settings of fields on the form

If necessary, change the settings of the fields you placed.

  1. On the form settings screen for the iPad app, tap the field for which you want to change the settings.

  2. Tap the gear-shaped button on the right side of the screen.

  3. On the field settings screen, configure the necessary fields.

  4. Tap Apply.

  5. To apply the changes to the form, tap "Save".

Rearranging the Order of Fields

Changes the order in which fields are displayed on a form.

  1. Tap the field for which you want to change the order.

  2. Tap the "↑" or "↓" button on the right side of the screen.Screenshot: The location of the buttons for changing the order of items

  3. To apply the changes to the form, tap "Save".

Concatenating Fields

You can display the preceding and succeeding fields side-by-side on a single line. You can combine up to two fields.

  1. Tap a field to combine.

  2. Tap the button on the right side of the screen that looks like two rectangles placed side by side.

  3. To undo the merge, tap the button on the right side of the screen that looks like two rectangles stacked vertically.Screenshot: The "Remove" button

  4. To apply the changes to the form, tap "Save".

Deleting placed fields

If necessary, remove fields from the form.

  1. On the form settings screen for the iPad app, tap the field you want to delete from the form.

  2. Tap the trash can-shaped button on the right side of the screen.Screenshot: The position of the "Trash" button

  3. To apply the changes to the form, tap "Save".

Changing the Colors Used to Distinguish Forms

If you create multiple forms, setting different colors for each form can make it easier to distinguish them in the list view.

  1. In the settings screen of the form for the iPad app, tap the form name at the top left of the screen.

  2. Tap "Color Picker".

  3. From the color palette, select a color to mark the form.

  4. To apply the changes to the form, tap "Save".

Changing the Form Settings for the iPad App

Changes the settings of an existing form.

  1. On your device, tap the "kintone Touch" icon.

  2. Tap "Settings" in the upper right corner of the screen.

  3. On the form for changing settings, tap the button with three dots.Screenshot: The menu of the "More" button

  4. Tap Edit.Screenshot: "Edit" is highlighted

  5. If necessary, change the settings of each field or adjust the layout.

  6. After you finish editing the form, tap "Save".

Deleting a Form for the iPad App

  1. On your device, tap the "kintone Touch" icon.

  2. Tap "Settings" in the upper right corner of the screen.
    Apps for which you can configure forms for the iPad app are listed.

  3. In the form you want to delete, click the button with three dots.

  4. Tap "Delete".
