Regarding Single Character Search and Alphanumeric Word-in-Search

Article number:0401070

Enabling "Single Character Search and Alphanumeric In-Word Search" allows for more flexibility when filtering records with lookups.
For example, you can narrow down the records of "Hayashi Koichi" by the single character "Hayashi," or you can narrow down the records of "kintone 202602" by strings that partially contain the word, such as "kin" or "2026."

This page describes how the filtering results for records change depending on whether this feature is enabled or disabled.

When 1-character search and alphanumeric substring search are enabled

  • You can use a single character to search for a word that consists of two or more characters. For example, you can search for records containing "kintone" by using the single character "k". Similarly, you can search for records containing "Koichi Hayashi" by using the single character "Hayashi".
  • For alphanumeric characters, you can filter by a partial string of a word. For example, you can filter a record named "kintoneAbc-01234" by keywords such as "kintone", "abc", or "123".

For other filtering examples, refer to the following section:
Examples of Filtering Results

This method is recommended because it can narrow down many records as candidates. However, depending on the keyword, records that are not very relevant may be narrowed down as candidates.

If 1-character search and alphanumeric word-internal search are disabled

  • Words consisting of two or more characters must be used to specify two or more characters.
  • For alphanumeric characters, you need to specify whole words as keywords. For example, if a record has a value of "kintoneAbc-01234", you can find it by using "kintoneabc" or "01234" as a keyword. However, you cannot find it by using a partial word such as "kintone", "abc", or "123".

For other filtering examples, refer to the following section:

Depending on the record values and keywords, related records may not be listed as suggestions.
